As today was scheduled to be my rest day, I had nothing to do other than go to the beach and sit around the pool before I set off on my journey back to Nairobi. Hopefully to collect my Sat Nav from the Hilton Hotel where I staying at when I first arrived in Nairobi. However yet another challenge presented itself. I received an e mail from UPS telling me that my package that I was waiting for (My Sat Nav) had duty and taxes to pay before it was to be released by customs for delivery. I was told to transfer 10,818 KSH (£78) via the bank or us M Pace (Equivalent to Apple Pay). Needless to say transferring the money from the UK would take up to 4 days which was not an option and I didn’t have a Kenyan M Pace account. So after pleading with the manager of Diani Backpackers where I am staying at the moment, he kindly agreed to help me out and pay the tax/ duty charge via his M Pace account.....Phew, another challenge overcome. Now I just need to hope that customs actually release the Sat Nav and deliver it by Wednesday, when I plan to be back in Nairobi.
It was now time to relax and whilst sitting at the pool I made a new friend Yaga the Jack Russell.....
He definitely reminded me of home and my 2 boys Ted and Berttie.
Before I knew it it was lunchtime, so down to the beach to experience the local cuisine In the searing heat. After selecting the fish of the day from the menu, rabbit fish, this appeared on my table along with a local bear for only KSH 1000 (£8) Amazing food and great value!
And all with a view of the Indian Ocean....
Oh well, enough of this relaxing, its back on the bike tomorrow, making my way back up to Nairobi.
I love reading your post each day. Challenging to say the least, most days something crops up to be resolved 🤔
Kalifi & Watamu I know as near Vipingo where I holidayed at the Hardman’s home & they took me around. So glad you are having relaxing time on beach & by pool. It’s so hot 🥵 you are guaranteed a good tan. Xx
